Pineland

The fun thing about Maine is that we get to do a lot of things we probably couldn't do easily in most other places.  For one, we get to do a lot of farm outings.  Pineland Farms is a beautiful farm and community that opens their doors to family days every now and then.  We spent the morning there one recent Saturday afternoon.

The kids got to gather eggs that were still warm right from under the chickens.  I might add that this felt wrong on so many accounts and the kids kept on asking why the eggs were warm. Ugh.  I wish I didn't love eggs so much.

Heath saying hello to the pigs (below).  These pigs were like dogs--they came running over to greet us when they heard the kids voices and were wagging their little spiral tales with excitement.   The kids had the chance to feed them and listen and watch the pigs eat. They seriously do sound like pigs when they eat.  No doubt about the roots of the word.

Lex even had the chance to milk a cow.  Something I've definitely never done.  She thought it was pretty cool that she got to do something that neither of her parents have ever done.
