Maple Sunday

Once a year in Maine there's something called Maple Sunday where all things maple are celebrated.  Maple farms and refineries (is that what they're called?) open their doors to the public for a day of maple celebration.  Many of you know that Patrick feels that maple makes the world do round, so he was delighted for the chance to participate in the festivities.

We joined our friends Paul, Lynn and Abby for Maple Sunday this year.  We proved to be wimpy Mainers (it was 40 degrees or so), but we enjoyed it as much as we could. Maple Sunday included, ice cream with maple syrup topping (this was for breakfast), waiting in line for 30 minutes in the cold (and eating outside too) for a scrumptious all things maple breakfast, including maple sausage, pancakes with syrup and beans and maple. You could also purchase syrup and maple candies as parting gifts.  We did not leave empty handed or with empty bellies, but we were chilled to the bone.

A glimpse at the festivities.

Eating ice cream with maple syrup despite freezing!

Cute Abby! She didn't seem to notice is was even cold!
