All About Me

A cautionary note - this post is about yours truly. There will be no kid pics in this one and likely no mention of them.

As many of you may know, I turn 40 this January. In preparation for 40 I finally decided to get myself back into shape after 5+ years of doing nothing physical except birthing babies and chasing them around. With the "get fit" mentality (and reduced work hours allowing me to have more "free" time) I set forth, along with my good friend Keri, to run two half marathons. The thought being that we do not have time to train for a full marathon at this point in our lives and just one half marathon seemed sort of ordinary. So the training ensued. The first half marathon was in Chicago in early September. Nothing ever goes perfectly, but we had a fantastic weekend, celebrating with friends, eating great food, and running (of course). Despite a nagging injury that showed up in my leg the week before the race, I was able to finish, and I was pleased to feel somewhat "fit" again. I am eagerly looking forward to the second of the two half marathons, which will be in Maine the first weekend in October.

Good luck on the 2nd! I know it's soon - what day exactly? I'm running Columbus on October 17th.

  2. You ladies are absolutely crazy (but I love you anyway). =) And Sura . . . I so admire your ability to gloss over the really crappy parts of the race (aka life) and focus on the good parts. Wish I had a little more of that in me! Congrats to both of you and good luck on race #2!!
